Attumen the Huntsman
Nothing special.
Moroes
CoE helps prevent early breaks on mobs being trapped by hunters. Other than that it's nothing special for us locks.
Maiden of Virtue
It can be very helpful to equip a Spellstone and summon a Felhunter, especially when low on classes that can dispel. It will give you two ways of removing Holy Fire from yourself. The following macro can be used as an Oh-shit-dispel button. It will use Spellstone (longer cooldown) only if Felhunter is dead:
#showtooltip /cast [pet:Felhunter,target=player] Devour Magic; [equipped:Relic] Master Spellstone
Opera Event
Wizard of Oz
The two typical warlock roles for this encounter are:
- Chain fearing Roar. Remember to also apply CoS. If Roar goes out of LoS, be ready to re-cast Fear the moment it wears off and he comes charging for a healer.
- Chain stunning Strawman. Any fire damage will disorient him. Keep CoE and Immolate up, and spam Searing Pain.
The Big Bad Wolf
Nothing special. CoW could be useful as he hits like a truck, but better to just RUN AWAY LITTLE GIRL, RUN AWAY!
Romulo and Julianne
A Felhunter can be used to dispel both Julianne's and Romulo's buffs. Put Devour Magic on auto cast, but keep an eye on its health and funnel as needed.
Nightbane
Positioning is very important during this encounter. Suggest asking the tank where they would like to have the Imp parked (and possibly marked). It can act as a great marker.
The Curator
General
No matter what assignment you get during this encounter, always cast Curse of Doom at around 55 seconds before every Evocation. Trinkets and Amplify Curse may help to boost damage even higher. Remember to cast your normal curse at around 5 seconds into Evocation, after CoD has detonated.
Flare Tanking
Not necessarily a warlock task, but we're often picked for it anyway: Flare Tanking. Here's a check list:
- Equiping Arcane Resistance will make it a lot easier for the healer to keep you up, but don't use anything too gimping. Soulcloth gemmed for DPS is good. Remember, 365 is the absolute resistance cap. Anything over that is wasted.
- Click off Blessing of Salvation.
- Have Concentration aura active, or, if no paladin available, a resto Shaman's Earth Shield.
- Position yourself in the middle of the hallway, a good distance behind the tank, but close enough to reach every spawning Flare with Searing Pain.
- Keep spamming Searing Pain until the next Flare spawns, then switch to the new one. Other DPS should take out the old flare first, before assisting you.
- Shadowburn can be used to quickly pull Flares off healers.
Terestian Illhoof
Imp Tanking
The one encounter in Karazhan where the warlock really shines. No class is better at tanking and killing those endless waves of imps. Here's what's involved:
- Gear: Go for high Stamina, Shadow Damage and a good amount of Spell Hit Rating. Fire Resistance is completely optional. Finally, there's one particular item that is insanely useful here: [Darkmoon Card: Madness]. The sheer number of imps you'll be killing means that nearly all buffs this card gives (+35 Stamina, +35 Intellect, +41 Spell Damage, +35 Spell Crit, +35 Spell Haste) will be up all the time!
- Click off Blessing of Salvation.
- Have Concentration aura active, or, if no paladin available, a resto Shaman's Earth Shield. This is important especially for us non-affliction locks, who will get easily interrupted otherwise.
- Position yourself somewhere in the center of the room. Maybe not directly in the sacrificial circle, but close to it.
- Target Illhoof and just spam Seed of Corruption with an occasional Life Tap. That's all there is to it!
General
Sometimes we're asked to assist in general DPS, instead of dealing with the imps. In this case the following macro is excellent for nuking Illhoof, but switching to Kil'rek and Demon Chains when appropriate:
/cleartarget /targetexact Demon Chains /targetexact [noexists] Kil'rek /targetexact [dead][noexists] Terestian Illhoof
Thanks to Skalleper for suggesting [Darkmoon Card: Madness].
Shade of Aran
Besides all his usual tricks, there are a few things warlocks should keep in mind when facing Aran.
- Imp is best parked in the center of the room.
- Hardly an issue, but it's possible to dispel the slowing debuff just before Arcane Explosion, by using a Spellstone.
- Warlocks are great for dealing with the water elementals that spawn when Aran's at 40% health. We can Banish one, Fear another and CoT the remaining elementals, thereby reducing the damage they do significantly.
Netherspite
Warlocks will generally be assigned to take one full Blue Beam cycle each. Make sure CoS is up and just keep Draining Life. Throwing in additional DoTs at the beginning of the cycle can greatly increase your total DPS. Often times DPS is called off during Banish phases, but if it isn't, make absolutely sure no DoTs are up when Banish ends. Shadow Ward is your friend during this whole encounter.
Chess Event
Soul Link works great on chess pieces! Nah, just kidding. Nothing special about this one.
Prince Malchezaar
Track Demons is invaluable for spotting Infernals. Other than that, it's nothing special for us locks.
