Required Information

When gearing up your Hunter, there is one major consideration to take into account. The single most important way to increase your DPS is to be hitcapped. In WotLK, the hitcap is 263 Hit Rating (8% hit) without talents/Draenei in the raid. You can survive with less, but it is also important to note that the Hit Rating carried over to your pet is in exact amounts, rounded down. So if you have a 7.99% chance to hit, your pet will have a 7% chance to hit. It is recommended to gear/gem/enchant for the 263 hit rating, but if you're unable to reach it, then the talent Focused Aim can help you compensate.

Marksmanship or Survival specs are advised to reach the Haste softcap in order to lower their steadyshot casttime to 1.5 seconds. This is 522.7 haste. Placing points in Improved Aspect of the Hawk lowers the need for Haste Rating.
