Gearing up Shadow Destro 0/21/40

Here's what I found is a rough guide to gearing up for the Shadow Destro 0/21/40 raid build.

1. Raise (Shadow) Spell Damage to 750.
2. Raise simultaneously (Shadow) Spell Damage to 950 and Spell Hit Rating to 202.
3. Raise (Shadow) Spell Damage to 1350.
4. Raise simultaneously (Shadow) Spell Damage to 1500 and Spell Haste Rating to 130.
5. Continue to raise (Shadow) Spell Damage and Spell Haste Rating, but also start raising Spell Crit Rating at a rate of 5:4:3 respectively.

If you follow this guide, your dps will always be at an optimal level, give or take a few, depending on raid buffs.

Why not start raising Crit earlier, I hear you ask? The reason is you will gain a lot of passive Crit chance from Intellect, talents and raid buffs. It is not unrealistic to expect to have a 19% crit chance from those three things alone — meaning with zero Spell Crit Rating on gear. Of course it can't hurt to stack a little Crit while gearing up. In fact, it will be hard to avoid. But do not socket crit gems until you're at the mentioned levels for Spell Damage and Spell Haste. After that, raising Crit at a moderate rate, will provide a higher dps gain than raising Haste and Spell Damage alone.
