Hello Flames!

I thought I'd just chuck a first post in here to gauge the interest in our ranks.. As you all noticed, RP has been quite on the recline on our nice little server trio. RP still exists, but more or less in small pockets, and I for one am really missing the times of these large server wide events.

So, recently someone inquired about the Moonrise on the RP forums, and it got others, and me, thinking.. how nice it would be to revive an old, longstanding Moonglade tradition! Maybe not even in all its glory as back in its heyday, but hey - if we can organize it as a monthly get together for RPers, I'd still call it a win!

https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/moonglade-server-rp-greeting-the-new-moon/5403

Now - I have been discussing this with a few others and we are planning to meet up coming sunday night to discuss options on how to re-start it, both OOCly and ICly.
Sunday night will NOT be an RP event per se yet - just a get together of those interested in stepping up and moderating / reviving it.

In case any of you here are interested to be involved.. please let me know! What we especially urgently would need are Nightelf players. This event is an old Kaldorei custom, and it just would not be the same if a worgen, a Draenei and a human would moderate it single-handedly Wink However, race is no restriction, as it has always been open to all (if it is open to problematic classes as DKs and warlocks that for example would be discussed sunday)

For those of you who do not know the Moonrise.. it was once and for many years an old monthly server tradition on Moonglade EU, taking place 1x per month in Ashenvale. It was hosted by Moonglades Nightelf guilds who contributed prayers to Elune and speeches, while all races were welcome to enjoy an hour or two of peaceful get together and watch the rising of the moon over Zoram Strand. Even a few Horde chars were regular visitors

As a kaldorei mage, who try to make connections between traditions of ages and wisdom of magic, I would be honored to participate :3

Background of my character is priest of Elune, who in dreams talk with the Goddess and she urged him to take teachings from Highbornes in Darnassuss... So I would love to take part in this event.

That is amazing, thanks for the quick reaction Laelanthar! You're most welcome to drop by sunday, we're meeting from 20:30 server time in Stormwind. Participants are all in /LookingforRoleplay, the 3 keen bunnies so far are Grawle, Serendipity and myself Smile

I am really happy to have found a Nelf RPer, haha!

I remember these events fondly and know a number of other old EF members loved to frequent them. Really happy to know people are trying to revive it!

I would say: Be there if you can, it will be wonderful!

See, that's my issue with the Moonrise event and always has been down the years, the Warlock thing.
Considering the Elves are a race which has been in the past, responsible for basically, every woe Azeroth suffered at the hands of the Legion #weinvitedbigS2thepartylol and in recent history, got their shit pushed in so hard during the War of Thorns and now survive on the good graces of their allies. Allies who split their own blood rushing to their defence at Darkshore and before, resisting the Legion's invasion, the mere suggestion that a Death Knight or a Warlock should be sneered at, at this point leaves a worse taste than usual.

If the mentioned is going to wander about with a corpse or demon at their side, well, they are clearly a fool and get what they deserve but anything else at this stage in the story should be well and truly above the good old Night Elf hypocrisy, especially since they now embraced Mages back into the fold too.

These were my main reasons for eventually not supporting the events anymore over time. As an example, it became tiresome repeating the same routine with a new idiot each time along the lines of "Nelfskillz1 frowns as her delicate Elven nose detects the scent of sulphur and brimstone". No, you detect shit, jack shit. We dress ourselves and are perfectly capable of not reeking like an Eredar. You might know who is what by reputation but you absolutely do not have some inbuilt detector unless you happen to be a Demon Hunter. Not everyone spends all day in an evil lair brewing demonic tonics simply by definition of class. Repeated total lack of ability to recognise what their character knows and what the screen tells them. Not much enjoyment in turning up and repeating that cycle down the years so yeah, eventually I just stopped going which was a shame as it was quite enjoyable when not having to whisper spar with some bent out of shape random.
Those are good reasons offered from the "dark side" to examine how that goes and why. Exclusion and in some cases just ooc player belligerence when they get asked to back off and not just assume total knowledge was not a good look for the event.

It's risk of every RP event - with every new expansion we've got more and more people who think that roleplaying is connected only with their class/imagination, and not taking into account wider lore of world. But I still think it's worth trying.

About exclusion - it's true that elves tend to be a little... Emm... Closed-minded and don't like to eat humble pie. But now we have to take into account for example they close bonds with wogrens, who have a lot of powerful warlocks... And a lot of other things that happened during last years.

And also - roleplaying is dying (at least in my opinion). Trying to do something like this is always good.

Sorry you feel so strongly about the past Moonrises, Heba Wink I have never been at the receiving end with a controversional class / char, but can totally understand it's annoying to be at the receiving end of metagaming all the bloody time. I'm not even sure what their 'policy' was back then on warlocks - I believe they were accepted if not openly revealed as such?
What I remember of the Moonrise back then was that it was in every way just very very Kaldorei.. and a nice representation for a race which is typically rather conservative, closed to outsiders and slower to embrace change than the other folks of Azeroth.

I made the warlock remark as on sunday we plan to have a good sit down and discuss some how's and what's for a hopefully recurring event, and what guidelines we want to make it happy and enjoyable for most. I can tell from past experience of organizing big RP events, it is nice to have as little room for conflict as possible, to keep it drama free.

Actually I am with you on the warlock (and DK) topic. We should keep in mind quite a long time has passed in Azeroth, new circumstances came up, and wars have been fought and about 10 years have passed. My char was once very uneasy around Death Knights back in the days, but after they have been around our ranks since 15 ingame years or so, they have proven their worth, and I wouldn't see a reason anymore to make any sort of exclusion rule. Same goes for warlocks.

However.. since we are trying to take over an existing custom, I would at least check how everyone feels about making changes and loosen up certain things, before getting flamed by the community Wink

I am very much interested in re-establishing roleplay once again. I have a newfound appreciation for it ever since I started playing Dungeons and Dragons about three years ago. My only concern is that with it being on Sunday night, a good chunk of us will be in the middle of raiding the big troll city. So either a lot of us will miss it entirely, or at least be very late to the party. I don't know how long you lot intend to be sitting out there for? I know that you said it's not been officialised as the actual RP event yet, but still, it's something to think about.

Well, as said, sunday is just a first orga meeting to scout the location and discuss how to angle it to make it a reoccuring server event.
Though chances are that we might go again for the first sunday of the month for the actual event, as this was when the event always used to take place.

This is why I am gauging out interest at the moment. Obviously this would be a open-for-all kinda thing with other players and guilds involved, so it would be tricky to plan around the raiding requirements of a few (if the few become a number however, it would look differently, as RPers are so few and it would be great to get the biggest possible audience. So it would be nice to see who is interested at all Smile )

The 1st sunday each month is also not set in stone yet - Lael had the nice idea to actually link it to the RL full moon.
Only limitation here is a few of the organizers including me have an absolute 100% no-go-rule for friday and saturdays (as in, can't commit to game stuff. Been there and never again Smile ).

But as said, that's all tbd. Happy to see some interest Smile
